Like Wikki, IfeanyiUbah out of Confed Cup

IfeanyiUbah: Out of CAF Confederation Cup
FC IfeanyiUbah of Nnewi on Sunday in Ismaila crashed out of the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup competition, after losing to hosts Al Masry of Egypt.
The Nigerian side had defeated visiting Al Masry 1-0 on Feb. 12 through a Tame Medrano 87th minute goal, and needed to avoid defeat to advance.
But they also lost by the same margin to Al-Masry, after a first half goal.

With a 1-1 aggregate end to the two legs of the fixture, the tie had to be decided by a penalty shootout which the Egyptian side went on to win 3-0.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that FC IfeanyiUbah’s loss meant Nigeria no longer has any representative in the 2017 edition of the competition.
Earlier in the day, the other Nigerian representative, Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi, could not overcome RSLAF of Sierra Leone in spite of a home win.
They won 1-0 in Bauchi, but it was not enough as they crashed out on a 1-2 aggregate, having lost 0-2 in the first leg on Feb. 12.
However, there was joy for Nigeria in the CAF Champions League where the country’s two representatives advanced, even though next round’s fixtures are full of ominous signs.
Rivers United of Port Harcourt are to face former African champions El-Merreikh of Sudan while Rangers International of Enugu are to take on multiple champions Zamalek of Egypt.
Rivers United had beaten AS Real Bamako of Mali 4-0 aggregate after a 4-0 win in Port Harcourt on Sunday and a goalles draw in Bamako on Feb. 11.
On their part, Rangers drew goalless with JS Saoura of Algeria in Enugu on Sunday to advance on the away goals rule, after drawing 1-1 on Feb. 10 in Algeria.
Rangers will visit Zamalek on March 10 for the first leg match, while Rivers United will host El-Merreikh same day in Port Harcourt.
Both second leg fixtures will hold on March 17.
